Time Keeps on Tickin'

I’ve not been a bit diligent in posting on this here blog over the past few months.  I think just about everyone knows what’s going on, but I’ll give a quick update.

My doctor is pleased with the progress (insert cheesy grin and thumbs up sign here).  I think I’m due for another blood test to find out how effective my morning cocktail has been (vitamins), which could happen at my appointment next week.  I’ve lost 23 pounds (I think, I have to track down where I wrote it down).  For anyone looking for mammoth weight loss at this moment…um…yeah, that’s probably somebody else’s blog.

Back in January I met with the surgeon’s office, who submitted my file to my insurance company, who promptly denied the request to move forward with the surgery because I have not been seen by the weight loss doctor for six months consecutively.  That time frame is up April 1st (and no there’s not a joke there), then they’ll resubmit again.  I’ll update once all that stuff is finalized.

It’s all good.  My focus over the past three months has been on my relationship with God through getting to know Jesus more. I’ve made a commitment to read the Bible daily – which sounds like it would be an easy thing to do.  For the most part I meet this goal, but there are days which get away from me.  I purchased a couple of notebooks (they’re 100% green and 100% made right here in the states), purchased my favorite pens (I’m so happy they’re inexpensive), and I decided to dig into a verse by verse study through specific books of the Bible.  I happened upon a message from Mike MacIntosh and another by Raul Ries the weekend the Whosoevers had their conference and went hunting for podcasts.  I transferred a series by Raul to my mp3 player, which is 1st Peter.  At lunch I pop in my earbuds, grab my notebook and scribble my brains out.  So even on those days I might miss reading, I’m at least certain to hear the Word.  There’s a neat verse in the Bible which says faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.  It’s been great because although I’ve been through these passages before, I’m seeing new things and it’s exciting to me.

The weight loss journey and recent events have been very challenging and I honestly think my reaction to these circumstances is directly related to my commitment to give God first place in my life.  I have a long way to go to being the person I would like to be, but man – I’ll tell you what – I’ve been blessed beyond measure throughout these circumstances and I’m so grateful where my life is heading.

That’s all for today.
